Fuel Types
Unstanding Fuel and Oil
We take pride in our teams understanding of fuel and oil types. We carry many types of fuel, including Diesel, Gasoline, and Propane (heating oil). we want to ensure that everyone keep moving, from your home to your company to your car. Click On the accordions in each section to learn more about the fuels we carry.
Diesel Fuel
Diesel fuel comes in various types, each designed for specific applications and conditions. The main types of diesel fuel include:
Also known as winter or “light” diesel, Diesel #1 has a lower viscosity and a higher cetane rating than other diesel fuels. It performs well in cold temperatures and is commonly used in regions with harsh winter climates.
This is the most common type of diesel fuel and is used in various applications, including highway vehicles, off-road equipment, and industrial machinery. Diesel #2 has a higher energy content than Diesel #1 but may have slightly lower cetane ratings.
In response to environmental regulations, ULSD has significantly reduced sulfur content compared to traditional diesel fuels. It contains no more than 15 parts per million (ppm) of sulfur and is used to reduce emissions and comply with emissions standards.
Biodiesel is a renewable fuel derived from plant or animal sources. B20 contains 20% biodiesel mixed with 80% conventional diesel (#2). B100 is pure biodiesel. Biodiesel is known for its lower emissions and reduced dependence on fossil fuels.
Gasoline
Gasoline, like diesel, comes in various types, and the specific formulation can vary based on regional regulations, seasonal considerations, and additives. Here are some common types of gasoline:
This is the most commonly used gasoline for everyday consumer vehicles. It typically has an octane rating of 87 and is suitable for engines with lower compression ratios.
Mid-grade gasoline has a higher octane rating (usually 89) than regular unleaded. It is suitable for vehicles that require a higher octane level to prevent knocking or pinging.
Premium gasoline has a higher octane rating, usually ranging from 91 to 93. It is designed for high-performance or luxury vehicles with engines that have higher compression ratios, where using lower-octane fuel might lead to engine knocking.
We offer gasoline without ethanol for specific vehicles, such as older cars or small engines (e.g., lawnmowers, boats), which may be more sensitive to ethanol.
Heating Fuel And Oil
Heating oil, used for residential and commercial heating systems, comes in different types and grades. The most common types of heating oil include:
Also known as No. 2 fuel oil, this is the most common type of heating oil used in residential and commercial heating systems. It is a relatively clean-burning fuel and is widely available.
Bioheat is a blend of standard heating oil and biodiesel, which is derived from renewable sources such as soybean oil or recycled cooking oil. Bioheat is considered a more environmentally friendly option as it reduces greenhouse gas emissions and dependence on fossil fuels.
We offer premium heating oil, which include additives to enhance performance, improve fuel efficiency, and reduce equipment maintenance requirements.
Kerosene is a lighter and more refined form of heating oil. It is often used in portable heaters, outdoor heaters, and some older heating systems. Kerosene is also used as an additive to improve the cold-weather performance of standard heating oil.
